Fatima's Feast

Fatima is a beautiful 7 year old girl with a contagious smile, who suffers with a genetic disease known as Epidermolysis bullosa.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is an incredibly painful skin disorder which causes the skin to blister and be torn-off from the slightest friction… many times even the act of taking on and off clothes can tear the skin.

Fatima’s family was uncertain of how to properly care for her condition. By God’s grace and support from friends and family, our team had the privilege of responding to their needs. We arranged for Fatima to see a specialist and for a weekend full of TLC. We treated Fatima and four family members to a long weekend in the big city, while teaching them proper cleaning, bandaging, and hygiene techniques to help improve Fatima’s quality of life. While Fatima was understandably apprehensive at first with strangers touching her wounds, before leaving, she was asking us to change her bandages with a smile… and even helping!

We also had LOTS of fun spending time with the family and getting to know this little angel. We went to the local zoo, Fatima had a pony ride in the parks, and her mother and aunt enjoyed shopping at the city’s souq.

So, when we think of the Middle East, let us think of Fatima. Let us think about the millions of children, women and men that God passionately loves and calls us to love as ourselves.
